How long does window film usually last, and when should you replace it?
I installed window film on several windows in my home about five years ago, mainly to reduce glare and protect furniture from sun damage. It worked wonderfully for the first few years, but lately I’ve noticed some bubbling and peeling around the edges, which is making me wonder how long these films actually last. I’ve heard some last 10 years or more, but environmental factors like strong sun exposure or poor installation can shorten their lifespan. Does anyone here have experience with the longevity of windowfilm? How do you know when it’s time to replace it, and is it worth trying to fix minor damage or just start fresh?

Maintaining the film properly also plays a big role. Using harsh cleaners or abrasive cloths can damage the surface, so gentle cleaning is a must. Overall, I think the cost and effort to replace window film every decade or so is worth it, especially when you consider the benefits like UV protection and energy savings.
